off to taiwan

come thursday, i will be off to taiwan. its our annual co trip (so far so good).

i will be sharin de room w ms pinkability aka vera. hope my eardrums can endure her high-pitched voice (mandy ah mandy). and hopefully my nose can endure certain BB too. better pack lotsa mints. hahahahaha.

i will be back on sun. in de meantime dun miss me (not that i update my blog v often ;p).

ps: its been awhile since i bought her world. now it comes in a more bag-friendly size. anyway its still a bring-and-throw mag for me. hahahahaha.

live earth

on 7 july, there will be a 24 hours concert around world - live earth!!

despite its position to be about saving de earth, i would like to twist it as a form of celebrating de earth. appreciating de place that we live on. to show our love, we must learn to take care of it.

dun worry, i am not goin to ask you to switch off ac or use one pc of toilet paper. hehehhee. but re-look at your lifestyle and see in what we can reduce wastage, recyle. of course it help if you decide to use the fan instead of ac. hehhehehee :)

dead beat

i am so tired.

communicasia is here!! i have to help out at a client booth for de first day. gosh so much goin on. have to ensure everythin is ok. de talents are movin. make sure de girls at de counter know what to do ... blah blah blah. small talk w their customers. tryin my best to be a social butterfly.

to add to my tiredness, i chatted w pm till 3am the night before and woke up at 6am. hahahhaha.

i was so tired that after dinner (which btw is my first proper meal), i collapse on my bed and fell asleep (and i did not shower at all)!!

i am dead beat!

p/s: its bak cheng time. my mama made these non-pork BC for me. its all mine!!

dreams of flights

many moons and suns back, xl, di and i attended de opening act of singapore art festival - dreams of flight - at de padang.

was quite amazed so many people turned. of course it helped when de show is free, some stuns publicised on tv and FIREWORKS!!

de show was great and v entertaining. de fireworks came at de end of the show. was kinda weird ... when we were busy watching fireworks, de poor dudes and babes were still hanging in de air.

after de show, we trotted our way to clarke quay coffeeclub for dinner and dessert. i was tryin to be different and ordered a mushroom lasagne instead of my usual garlic prawn pasta. the lasagne was okay. maybe i was too full from de snack i had earlier.

dessert was good old muddy mud pie which i dun particularly like. moi never a fan of coffee flavoured ice cream.

good show good food and great company made me a happy girl. hehehehe :)

regroup

i know i have been really quiet. hey i have a full-time job. hehehehhehe.

well i have been doing quite a bit of thinkin abt oink. i have so many plans its driving me nuts. i think i kinda know what i am doing. i jus wanna make sure i execute well. concept is one thing. execution is another. hehehehhe :)

come july, hopefully. fingers crossed. there will be changes being made to oink.

in de meantime, dun lose faith in me.

chocolate wassant

i love these little buggers. they are oh so delicious. they are so popular - they get snapped up by lunch time.

i had an early lunch at provence (holland v) and was about to pay for my sandwich, saw these chocolate wassants. i remembered lovin them, tot i grabbed them on my way out. thank god i did not do that. and i glad i grabbed two packs.

while i was eating my sandwich, truck loads of people came and started grabbing these buggers by packs. at that moment, i was so happy that i have mine safely kept in my bag.

i love you chocolate wassant!!

crabby night

quite a while back, i invited myself to a crabby night w some of my ex-colleagues. am i glad to see them??!! esp lulu. de moment i saw her, i gave her the biggest heartest hug. i miss her!! de crabby night took place at ang mo kio ave 3, melben. despite that we have made a reservation, we needed to wait for awhile for our table. and we have to wait for de crabs too - 2 hours!!
all i can say is its worth de wait. the crab bee hoon soup was delicious. the butter crabs are to die for. de rest of the dishes that tide our hunger were so-so. but one dish did stand out - playboy chicken - chinese name "feng liu ji". despite its ridiculously funny name, it actually tasted quite good (good job lulu - she ordered de dish).
i love my ex-colleagues. jokin w them - kris permed fringe and her becoming of an aunty, anna kaya toast, lulu failing memories.

i had a great time. de only regret - not eating the last shell of roe. tsk tsk.

wholegrain bakin

it started w banana chocolate chip muffins. now i am fixated in bakin w wholegrain.

many moons ago, i was lookin for new treats to bake in my good old king arthur flour all-purpose bakebook (can i say i love this bakebook to death?? its simple and homey. sometimes, martha can be too fancy for my taste). i tot i would make something that is different (beside cranberry and walnut). why not banana chocolate chip muffin (fine there is walnut inside but its optional)??

the recipe also called for whole wheat flour (aka wholemeal flour). hmmmm i have never worked w wholemeal before. and seriously wonder how will it affect de taste.

may i say its YUMMY and HEALTHY!! its does not have de usual wholemeal taste (think dry and grainy wholemeal bread). its moist, not too sweet and yet crunchy (when hot).

thus when borders offered de generous 30% off coupon via the straits times, i dashed off and hoping i could grab hold of king arthur flour wholegrain bakin book (second option was de cookie companion). i was so happy. borders got de book!!

i grab hold of de book, checking. check if there is any duplication of recipes w my all-purpose. DUN HAVE!! hehehehehe *grin grin*. de people at king arthur flour are good. i seriously love them. all their books contained v little pictures. but who cares!! there is always a little story behind each recipe. so homey!! so honest. so comforting too.

i went off to vivo today to get some good whole wheat pastry flour. i bear little hope of gettin some. seriously. who on de earth would wanna buy whole wheat pastry flour?? guess what?? de naturally marketplace (owned by cold storage) got leh!! they have a good selection of bob's red mill flour. gosh de collection is enormous. i xiao lu luan chuan man. in de end, i took 2 packs of whole wheat pastry flour and 1 pack of yellow cornmeal.

and tomorrow, i will be makin honey and corn muffin. hehehhee i am damn excited.

girls day out @ poppy

another super duper late entry. de event happened almost 2 weeks ago. its a fun filled event. i got my little corner and my small ambition of sellin only one pair of earrings (i sold three in de end). hehehehhee. anyway i kinda lazy to blog about it esp when lynda has done a good job reporting it :)


i was v v happy that some of you came to see me. esp w de sudden rain. thanks qmo for bringin de twinnie to meet me. and even made them wear de tee i bought for them. and you wearin my earrings. di and shona ... for wanting to bring me food. bi ... bravin de rain and NOT buyin anything?! and of course, ang bee hong aka bunny for all de gossip (oei dotted line owner is yvonne lee cousin leh ...) and loud shrillin laughter. last but not least, sarah (aka owner of poppy) who got her FOS slippers stolen due to de event. hahahahhaa.

and not forgettin b aka lynda better half. he was de ahmad / coolie of de day. de funniest bit was when lynda and i were so engrossed in our chat that we totally forgot to tell b to drop me off home first. we end up touring de town. hehehehhehe. sorry b. since i not payin petrol, i will repay w more sweet treats!!

care packages

got to feature some of the care packages that i have received and given out. first stop - kae awfully chocolate cake. it was really a surprise to me. despite being a forgetful preggie, she still managed to trick me into thinkin she is comin to my office. she is really a giving girl. esp during her sia time. de amount of goodies and pressies she got for me ... they are not expensive items or wat. but alot of thoughts is definitely put into it.

de cake was delicious. i distributed de cake to de rest of de people in office. of course, i made sure i have two slices!!

next is a package by lof aka lynda. its a bag full of homemade goodies - a pouch made of piggy printed vintage fabric (that came all de way from germany), owl coaster (w a gorgeous hole), ducky pin (now pinned onto de pouch), a hair pin and a hungry monster postcard. ohhh a bag full of charms!!

these two great gifts came together on de same day. it really made my day!!
of course ages ago i got alittle something for lynda too (well when i said ages ... its really ages ;p). since she has been makin quite a bit of custom stuff for me and not mentioning my box choke full of toys for my bday, it awfully right that i made somethin in return. esp at times when she is super duper low. despite de yuckiness and grossness of kitty, i made a pair of "cats are lovely??" (note de qn mark) earrings, got some kitty charms and a kitty postcard all packed up for her.

what was really funny - b - aka lynda partner in crime - noted my workmanship. which is pretty unusual for a man. on de other hand, b is a v nice dude. esp after what happened on de way back from poppy to my house, i am impressed. hehehhehehe.

all i can say i am glad despite my distance cold self, friends are still pouring their love to me. which i hope i can spread some of them to my family (do i sound friggin nice pink and fluffy or wat?!!). gran is finally out of hospital. however she is acting strange. i hope its jus adjustment period. prayin ...

gosh flickr is evil. thanks to flickr, i have kinda stop bloggin. hehehehhee. lynda is right - its easier to upload pic then blog.

i am not a plastic bag

have you catch on de latest "bring your own bag" campaign?? i am not sure how long its going to last but i am sure damn happy that it got started!!

every first wed of the month, major supermarkets in singapore will ask de shoppers to either pay 10cents for each plastic bag they use or purchase a reusable bag to contain their shopping. of course, shoppers can bring their own bags too. i am so lovin this idea.

when de campaign started, some people cry father cry mother sayin its unfair to pay for bags. some even carry their shoppin back by hands!! of course there will be people who welcome this idea!!

to take a step further, ikea now stop givin plastic bag free. if you want a bag, pay for it. and guess what?? de money will go to wwf singapore!! how cool is that.

of course, i am not sayin to completely stop using plastic bags. we still need them to bag our garbage and so on. however i think we ought to reduce de numbers of bags we used.

in de meantime, i am dyin for this anya hindmarch bag. i am going to see if aggy can grab hold of one for me!!

200 steps closer to martha

in my drugged out, LS state, i got a call from LOF.

guess what?? de producer at martha stewart buzzed my good fren again. and and ...*drums roll*, that dear girl mentioned my name to de producer. and and i need to do some extra work - lose gazillion pounds (tv makes you look fat), shoot a video of me-make-something-that-will-make-martha-proud-of-you-stuff ... i might make it to de show. hahahhahaha.

actually i am not v sure how i am feeling now. esp after 5th time to de toilet. feeling a bit weak, headache. not really digesting all these information.

however this is definitely v exciting. i am of course super duper excited for LOF. babe, i seriously hoped you get to be on her show when you go to chicago/ NY later de year. errr dun forget to get an autograph for me :)
